1. Strawberries — They’re one of my favorite fruits, but they’re also so adorable??
2. On Getting Out of Bed podcast — Especially the episode “…When You Don’t Feel Productive” with Alan Noble and Tish Harrison Warren.
3. El Tragón Taqueria — My favorite taco place in Chicago! I recently ordered al pastor tacos, elote, and guac and they’re all excellent.
4. Chick-fil-A’s watermelon mint lemonade — I hope to drink this often in the months to come because it is—dare I say it—better than their original lemonade!
5. Contemplative color walking — The idea here is whenever you’re on a walk, pick a particular color (say, lilac) and search for anything in that color on your walk (flowers, a front door, a street sign). I’ve been surprised how many things come in that shade and how colorful my surroundings really are when I stop to notice. This idea is from my former art professor, Dr. Elissa Yukiko Weichbrodt. She shares some of her color walking on her Instagram.
6. My new Etsy shop — I’ve loved painting since I was a kid. I sold paintings throughout high school and college and even had an Etsy shop at one point. It’s been closed for a while, but I recently (re-)started it under the name makaycreates! I’m mainly creating prints, but paintings and other things may show up there, too. You can follow along on Etsy, Instagram, and Facebook.
7. Would the Proverbs 31 Woman Get Botox? — A controversial, challenging, yet relevant episode about botox, cosmetic surgery, and the like! I love listening to Saved by the City podcast with Roxy and Katelyn. I appreciate how they navigate today’s cultural issues with thoughtfulness and nuance.
8. Half Baked Harvest Super Simple — I try to intentionally not share a bunch of things to buy on this post, but I use this cookbook weekly! I constantly want to share Tieghan’s recipes from this book, but don’t want to rip off an author. This photo here is her Three Cheese and Nectarine White Pizza from the cookbook. A similar recipe is free on her website.
9. Making a seasonal bucket list — I started this last fall after being inspired by Gabby Llewellyn. I make a bucket list for each season and hang it in an obvious place in my apartment. It reminds me what I want to do and helps me make the most of that time of year. It’s so fun.
10. Blue cheese — I am now a blue cheese convert. I used to hate it. Then I had gorgonzola (a mild type of blue cheese) which was the gateway cheese to loving blue cheese. So sorry if this offends you! But also, give it another try (a block of it, not the sauce)!
