1. Taylor Swift — Full stop. The work this woman is putting in for the Eras Tour is incredible. I wasn’t able to get tickets for the Chicago show, but I did sit outside the stadium and listen with hundreds of other Swifties 🙂
2. seven — On Taylor’s folklore album. One of the most underrated songs. I love her vocals in the chorus.
3. Thrifted mugs — A quirky, cool, fun, and unique mechanism to drink coffee from.
4. This podcast episode with John Swinton — He’s a professor at the University of Aberdeen who teaches and writes about mental health, disability, practical theology, and nursing. I really appreciate his much needed work in these areas. This episode on Kate Bowler’s podcast is beautiful.
5. An empty gym — So much space!
6. Centre for the Study of the Bible and Violence — I’m grateful for the work of many scholars at this centre! They cover topics ranging from war and genocide, to gender-based violence and domestic abuse. Many of my own interests intersect with this work. I appreciate how they address issues in the text and the culture in ways that are accessible, well-researched, and relevant.
7. Wearing slippers inside — I very much enjoy being barefoot, but I’ve been wearing slippers inside my apartment for the past year and now I prefer it.
8. Why You’re Frustrated with Dating Apps — A podcast episode on the Reimagining Love podcast with Dr. Alexandra Solomon. Dr. Solomon is a therapist and professor at Northwestern. I was first introduced to her through her Instagram page, where I resonated with her thoughtful and relevant posts about relationship dynamics. She teaches “relational awareness” which is a way of not simply being self-aware, but aware of how we live in relation to others. This episode on dating apps is so wise.
9. Ordinary time — The time in the church calendar where we are now. In ordinary time (after Pentecost), we remember and pay attention to the Spirit’s continued work in the church today. I’m grateful that it’s good to be ordinary!
10. Peonies — One of the most stunning, delicate flowers. They’re blooming in my neighborhood!
